	They have a lot of different kinds of craftsmen in a shipyard.
	People who specialize in sails, masts, pumps-
	all sorts of people.
	I used to make the barrels that they would load onto the ships.
	I was a rank below the men who actually built the ships.
	So I got the worst food and lodging.

Lots of strange types come to the village these days. You know how the mayor is encouraging people to move here? Well, it's working. Sort of. Some of the people are plain bad eggs. They drive up the price of the land and sell it for a profit. That's what they were planning to do from the start. And now some of the villagers who've been here all along have started selling their places. There are even some villagers who had no choice but to leave. And of course my boss isn't happy about that. he's always complaining about what the mayor does. And his daughter Clara has the rough job of dealing with him. Don't get me wrong. You don't look like a bad sort. But even good people can be influenced. Watch yourself.

Buckwheat Dough
	You know what I like, don't you?
	I always bring this with me when I have a log trip.
	Craftsmen always train under a master, right?
	Well once your training is done,
	you go on a trip looking for work.
	After you spend a few years like that...
	You can finally become a master yourself.
	Of course, most people never make it that far.
	Me, I've got a job now, so I can't go anywhere.

Blood Soup
	Well now. What a treat.
	Fixing the village's washbasins is pretty easy work.
	But of course, they don't have any other carpenters here,
	so always I'm pretty busy.
	I collect firewood, fix wagons, and clean chimneys too.
	I also make metal hoops for washbasins at the blacksmith's,
	and of course, I repair furniture when needed.
	I'd also like to build houses, but I don't have the time.

Tsampa
	A present for me? How nice.
	Craftsmen like me don't have much money, you know.
	Still, I'm better off then Pavan the blacksmith.
	And as long as I stick with Otto, I'll have enough to eat.
	Nothing fancy, of course.
	I eat sorghum and millet flour all year long.
	Oh, but I do get the occasional treat.
	It's best when I'm working at the cannery.
	There are always plenty of scraps to snack on.
